BaoBao Fest, a Colorado non-profit organization, based in Boulder, is dedicated to building community through multi-cultural experiences in the performing arts.

Traditionally, in West Africa, communities would regularly gather under the BaoBao Tree for singing, storytelling, drumming and dancing. The physical size and out reaching roots of the Baobao tree created a protected space for people to gather. Symbolically, the tree represented the continuity of wisdom and knowledge passed on from generation to generation.

Each year, BaoBao Festival draws on the West African tradition of gathering under the Baobao Tree for singing, dancing, drumming, and storytelling. Everyone in the community participates, including young and old. The BaoBao Festival held each spring in Denver and Boulder, Colorado, includes both traditional West African dance and drumming along with dances from other cultures. Performers come from around the United States, Canada, Ghana, and Great Britian.
